What You Get

Change the appearance of glass on demand

PDLC stands for polymer-dispersed liquid crystal. Rayno describes its Smart Film as becoming transparent when electrical current is supplied, with a frosted appearance when switched off. This is not ordinary tinted or permanently frosted film.

Flexible interior spaces

Conference rooms, interior office partitions, and selected residential spaces can benefit from adjustable visual privacy. Suitability must be checked for each pane and its environment rather than assumed from a photo.

A planned installation

Smart Film needs an appropriate power supply and controls. Wiring routes, edges, access, and any electrical work should be agreed before installation. It is not a peel-and-stick substitute for electrical design.

Service Options

Conference rooms and office partitions

Discuss viewing angles, lighting, panel dimensions, doors, and how people use the room. Ask to see the product's appearance in both states before choosing it for sensitive visual privacy.

Residential privacy projects

Start with the specific room, glass type, and exposure to moisture or heat. Do not assume every bathroom, exterior pane, or existing coating is suitable. Confirm the approved application and edge protection requirements.

Compare with permanent privacy film

A fixed frosted finish may be simpler when privacy is always needed. Smart Film is worth considering when switching between two appearances serves a practical purpose. Neither option provides soundproofing.

Our Process

Send dimensions and project goals

Share approximate pane sizes, photos, room use, and your privacy expectations. We confirm current product options and whether the application is suitable.

Review appearance and power requirements

Discuss haze, viewing angles, lighting, controls, and power routing. Clarify who is responsible for any required electrical work and what happens during a power interruption.

Agree on scope, installation, and care

Confirm panel layout, visible edges, controls, price, and current warranty terms. Follow the product-specific cleaning instructions and avoid unapproved liquids near electrical connections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Smart Film make a room completely private?

Do not assume complete visual concealment under every lighting condition. Evaluate the actual product, viewing distance, shadows, and angles for your application. Frosted appearance is not the same as an opaque wall or a blackout shade.

Does it need electricity?

Yes. Rayno's PDLC film uses electrical control to change appearance. Power, controls, and installation responsibilities need to be included in the project plan.

Can it be installed on any existing glass?

Not automatically. Glass condition, coatings, pane size, moisture exposure, and electrical access need assessment. Confirm suitability and available product specifications before ordering.

Does it replace security film or soundproofing?

No. Switchable visual privacy does not establish forced-entry resistance, sound isolation, or compliance with a specific security requirement.
