Paint Protection Film (Onyxhield)

Onyxhield PPF — invisible, optically engineered protection against road impact and environmental wear.

Onyxhield by Rayno is an Optical Paint Protection Film engineered for true color representation, superior clarity, and lasting durability. Available in film thicknesses up to 12 mil, Onyxhield absorbs impact from stone chips, road debris, salt, bug acid, and bird droppings while preserving the depth and vibrancy of your factory finish. As the exclusive regional Onyxhield dealer, we also serve as an authorized STEK and 3M Scotchgard Pro Series PPF installer — so we can match the right film to your vehicle, whether you want maximum self-healing clarity, a premium gloss finish, or a matte/stealth look. Satin finishes — commonly referred to as matte or stealth PPF — are also available for vehicles with non-gloss paint or owners seeking a refined, low-sheen look. Select color-tinted film options are also available — a hybrid solution that combines the full protective performance of clear PPF with a pigmented layer for subtle tonal shifts or accent work, bridging the gap between a traditional vinyl wrap and standard clear film. A self-healing top coat repairs fine scratches with ambient heat, and advanced anti-yellowing technology maintains the film's optical performance for years. Every installation is backed by a manufacturer warranty.

Onyxhield Film Technology

Self-Healing Top Coat

Fine scratches and swirl marks repair themselves with ambient heat, keeping the film's surface smooth and optically clear without manual intervention.

Optical-Grade Clarity

Precision optics technology optimizes light transmittance, reflection, and refraction to preserve your paint's true color, depth, and vibrancy under any conditions.

Extreme Impact Resistance

Available in film thicknesses up to 12 mil, Onyxhield absorbs stone chips, road debris, salt, and sand that would otherwise damage your factory finish.

Anti-Yellowing Technology

Advanced formulation resists discoloration from heat, UV exposure, and surface contaminants, maintaining the film's premium clarity for the life of the installation.

Hydrophobic Surface

Water, dirt, and environmental contaminants bead and shed on contact, reducing wash frequency and keeping your vehicle cleaner between maintenance.

Chemical & Stain Resistance

Engineered to resist etching and staining from bird droppings, bug acid, tree sap, road salt, and calcium deposits that degrade unprotected paint.

Benefits

Our Process

1. Pre-Wash & Decontamination

The vehicle is thoroughly washed and chemically decontaminated to remove embedded contaminants and ensure a perfectly clean surface for film adhesion.

2. Paint Inspection & Correction

We inspect the paint for existing imperfections. If needed, targeted paint correction is performed so the film locks in a flawless finish underneath.

3. Film Layout & Precision Application

Onyxhield film is precision-cut for your exact vehicle and carefully applied panel by panel in our controlled environment, ensuring edge-to-edge coverage without lifting or distortion.

4. Cure & Quality Check

The film is allowed to set and bond fully. Every panel is inspected for optical clarity, adhesion, edge seal quality, and a defect-free finish.

5. Delivery Review

We walk through the completed installation with you, reviewing coverage, care instructions, and warranty details before releasing the vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Onyxhield PPF?

Onyxhield is Rayno's Optical Paint Protection Film, engineered using precision optics and nanopolymer technology. It provides a virtually invisible physical barrier against stone chips, road debris, salt, bug acid, bird droppings, and environmental staining — while preserving true color clarity and the depth of your factory finish.

How long does PPF last?

Onyxhield is engineered for long-term performance and is backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty against yellowing, bubbling, peeling, and delamination. Real-world longevity depends on driving conditions, exposure, and how the film is maintained, but properly cared-for installations routinely exceed the warranty period.

What does 'self-healing' actually mean?

Onyxhield's top coat is formulated to repair fine surface scratches and swirl marks when exposed to ambient heat — for example, direct sunlight or warm water. The healing process is passive and continuous, so light surface wear corrects itself over time without intervention. It does not repair deep gouges or punctures through the film.

Should PPF be combined with ceramic coating?

We recommend it. Applying a ceramic coating over the film adds a hydrophobic surface layer that makes the PPF easier to clean and more resistant to environmental staining. It also enhances the film's gloss. The two products serve complementary roles — PPF absorbs physical impact, and ceramic coating provides chemical and UV surface protection.

Does PPF protect against all chips and scratches?

PPF provides a significant level of impact resistance and will absorb the majority of everyday road hazards — stone chips, gravel, sand, and light contact. However, no film can guarantee protection against every possible impact. Severity depends on the size, speed, and angle of the object. Onyxhield's thicker variants (up to 12 mil) offer the highest level of defense available.

How do I care for PPF?

After the initial curing period — typically 48 hours — wash the vehicle with a pH-neutral car shampoo and a clean microfiber mitt. Avoid abrasive brushes and harsh chemical cleaners. The film's hydrophobic surface makes routine washing easier and less frequent. We provide detailed care instructions at delivery.

Can PPF yellow over time?

Onyxhield is specifically engineered with advanced anti-yellowing technology that resists discoloration from heat, UV radiation, and surface contamination. Independent lab testing confirms extremely low discoloration rates. Proper maintenance further extends the film's optical clarity over its full lifespan.

What does the warranty cover?

The 10-year manufacturer warranty covers yellowing, bubbling, peeling, cracking, and delamination under normal use. Our workmanship is guaranteed as well — should any installation-related concern arise, we will address it at no additional cost.

Do you offer matte or stealth paint protection film?

Yes. Satin-finish PPF — often called matte or stealth film — is available and designed for vehicles with matte, satin, or flat factory paint, as well as owners who prefer a refined, low-sheen appearance on gloss finishes. Availability may vary depending on the vehicle and the coverage area selected, so we review options during your consultation to ensure the right fit.

What PPF brands do you install?

A-Team is the exclusive regional Onyxhield PPF dealer and an authorized STEK and 3M Scotchgard Pro Series PPF installer. That range lets us match the right film to your vehicle and goals — Onyxhield's optical clarity, STEK's PPF and ceramic-tint lineup, or 3M Scotchgard Pro Series in clear and matte finishes. We recommend the best fit based on your vehicle, finish preference, and budget rather than pushing a single product.

Do you offer colored paint protection film?

Yes — we offer colored PPF as a dedicated service. It provides the same self-healing, impact-resistant protection as clear film with an integrated color layer for subtle tonal shifts or accent work. Learn more on our Colored Paint Protection Film page.

What is colored paint protection film, and how is it different from a vinyl wrap?

Colored paint protection film is a hybrid solution that combines the physical protection of traditional clear PPF — self-healing top coat, impact absorption, and anti-yellowing technology — with a pigmented or tinted layer that changes or enhances the appearance of the paint underneath. Unlike a vinyl wrap, which is primarily an aesthetic film designed for visual transformation, colored PPF is engineered first as a protective product: it absorbs stone chips, resists chemical staining, and carries the same manufacturer warranty as our clear film. A vinyl wrap offers a broader range of colors, finishes, and textures and remains the preferred choice for full color changes, complex multi-color designs, and commercial branding. Colored PPF is best suited for clients who want a subtle tonal shift or accent work without sacrificing any protective performance. Visit our Colored PPF page for full details, or schedule a consultation so we can review both options side by side.
